Over 23 lakh beneficiaries register under PM Matru Vandana Scheme in Maharashtra


Maharashtra’s public health department has informed that over 23 lakh beneficiaries have registered under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Scheme. In an official statement, the department said Pune has registered the maximum number of beneficiaries at 2.8 lakh in the current financial year. It added that a little over one thousand crore rupees have been disbursed to the beneficiaries so far.

Under this scheme, cash benefit of five thousand rupees is provided to pregnant women and lactating mothers in three installments to meet the woman’s enhanced nutritional needs and to partially compensate for her wage loss during pregnancy.

As per the centre’s guidelines, the state will observe Matru Vandana Week till 7th September. The public health department has urged eligible women to contact their nearest healthcare centre, ASHA worker/ANM or anganwadi worker to get more information on how to avail the scheme.
